Brambling<\/h3>

The brambling is a colourful finch, that visits the UK over winter. The male has a distinctive black cap, an orange shoulder and breast, and white belly. The female has a similar pattern but is paler. It often joins forms large flocks, sometimes joining chaffinches, as it hunts for seeds in woodland and on fields.\"\"<\/p>

Blue tit<\/h3>

The blue tit is an acrobatic little bird, with colourful plumage. It has a green and blue black, a yellow belly, a blue cap on its mainly white head, and a black line that runs through its eye. They are one of our best-loved garden visitors and can often be seen at feeders or collecting caterpillars to feed to chicks.\"\"<\/p>

Starling<\/h3>

The starling is a dark bird with pale spots that in certain lights has a beautiful green and purple shimmer on its plumage. They are noisy and gregarious and spend much of their time in flocks searching for insects and fruit to eat. Although common, their numbers are decreasing which means they are on the Red List as a vulnerable species.\"\"<\/p>

Robin<\/h3>

Twice voted Britain's favourite bird, the little robin redbreast is a welcome visitor all year round but particularly over winter when it is one of the few birds to continue singing even at night. It has a bright orange breast, pale belly and brown and grey back and eats a varied diet of insects, worms, seeds, and fruit.\"\"<\/p>

House Sparrow<\/h3>

The house sparrow is a cheeky bird that often forms flocks in towns and cities. The male has a brown back and white belly, a grey cap and black bib, while the female is browner and greyer all over. There has been a severe decline in the UK's urban and rural populations and is classified as a Red List bird.
\"\"<\/p>

Blackbird<\/h3>

The blackbird has an unmistakeable song and can often be heard at dusk and early dawn. The male is black all over with a bright yellow beak and eye-ring, while the female is brown sometimes with spots and streaks on the breast. It eats mainly insects and worms, but will supplement its diet with fruit in the winter.<\/p>
